Congrats to the Globe Diamondbacks on their Championship Season!

After taking the regular season title, #1 Globe finishes strong by topping the #7 Williams by a score of 20 to 10.

Williams started strong by leading off the top of the first by scoring five runs by Jake de la Cruz, Luke Shores, Henry Houle, Gabriel Pinillos-Tahan, and Thomas Hoye. Globe hadn’t had a team put up that kind of run production in the first all season, and it looked like it may be a long game for them but for the resilience the boys learned in their near loss in Game #1 of the playoffs. Globe answered with two runs of its own by Spencer Schneider and Joey Parrone on singles by Jax Procopio and Jackson Vogt but couldn’t catch the five scored by Williams to leave Williams ahead, 5-2.  The trajectory of the game changed in the second inning when Williams started the second with singles by both Spencer and Mason DeNitto, but ended in a triple play by Globe when Joey caught a fly ball in right centerfield, quickly got it to Spencer Schneider at second, who made the heads-up play to Parrish Sherron who made a great catch at first. The triple play created plenty of buzz and momentum for Globe as it was a first for these first and second graders! Globe used the effort to propel them into the bottom of the second inning where they earned nine runs, led off by a double from Andy Won and singles from Elliott Craddock and Elijah Bell.

With an 11-5 lead, Globe’s defense continued to shine through the third, fourth and fifth innings despite singles by Thomas and Will Hinks of Williams.  Globe’s Cohen Roy was the only player able to score in the third after Max Mininberg’s double and Globe added two runs to their tally in the fourth with a first home run of the season for Jax! The fifth inning saw Globe continue to demonstrate its #1 seed with another three-up, three-down defensive effort and pulled away from Williams by scoring six runs.  This time it was Globe’s Connor Lomba who led the effort which was nothing new, as he was the leader of Globe’s comeback in Game One of the playoffs.

With its back against the wall in the sixth (and final) inning, Williams bounced back with another five runs with RBIs by Gabriel, Benjamin Noonan, Isaiah Aguilar, and Daniel Arvizu to close the gap; however, it wasn’t enough to overcome the 15-run deficit.  Globe prevailed as the 2019 Ranch Champions! Congratulations to all the Ranch players and coaches for a great season.
